Salesforce Launches Six Healthcare AI Agents
Salesforce added six AI agents to its Agentforce Health platform on March 5, each handling a specific healthcare automation task: referral routing, EHR data exchange, insurance claims processing, epidemiology analysis, rural health access, and hospital operations.
The referral agent scans electronic health records to find specialists and schedule follow-ups. A data exchange agent moves patient information between EHR systems like Epic and Athenahealth, targeting the interoperability bottleneck that delays onboarding and medication refills. A third agent gives patients round-the-clock chatbot access to billing status, in-network providers, and coverage details.
Three more agents address operational and public health gaps. One helps public health agencies spot infectious disease patterns. A mobile app lets rural providers access patient records and run appointments offline, built to support CMS rural health initiatives. A hospital operations agent manages staffing, equipment, and facility logistics from a single command view.
"Our macro thesis is around how can we give time back to clinicians and reduce time in paperwork," said Amit Khanna, SVP and general manager for health and life sciences at Salesforce. The platform connects with HealthEx, Verily, Viz.ai, Informatica, MuleSoft, and FHIR/TEFCA standards. Referral triage and engagement campaigns arrive in June 2026, with hospital operations and data integrations following later in the year.
The six agents join a broader wave of healthcare AI agent platforms targeting clinical workflows, as multiple vendors race to automate the administrative burden that consumes an estimated 30 percent of U.S. healthcare spending.
