Manufacturing AI Gets an Operating System as Siemens and NVIDIA Target First AI-Driven Factory
Siemens and NVIDIA expand their partnership to build an integrated manufacturing AI operating system, targeting the Siemens Erlangen factory as the first fully AI-driven production facility with Foxconn and PepsiCo among early evaluators.
Manufacturing AI Gets an Operating System as Siemens and NVIDIA Target First AI-Driven Factory
Siemens and NVIDIA announced an expanded partnership at CES 2026 to build what they call the Industrial AI Operating System — a platform that embeds AI across the full manufacturing AI value chain, from product design through supply chain operations.
The first deployment site is the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen, Germany, intended as a blueprint for AI-driven, adaptive manufacturing globally. Siemens CEO Roland Busch described the effort as "redefining how the physical world is designed, built, and run." NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the partnership transforms digital twins "from passive simulations into the active intelligence of the physical world."
The underlying technology stack pairs NVIDIA's AI infrastructure, simulation libraries, and Omniverse platform with Siemens' industrial software portfolio and several hundred manufacturing AI engineers. A central product is the Digital Twin Composer, expected on the Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace by mid-2026. It merges digital twin models with real-time engineering data to support factory automation AI use cases — verification, layout optimization, and production scheduling among them.
Foxconn, HD Hyundai, KION Group, and PepsiCo are early evaluators, spanning electronics, heavy industry, logistics, and consumer goods. Siemens projects 2x to 10x acceleration in key workflows for participating facilities.
The partnership reflects a broader shift in industrial automation AI: away from isolated point solutions and toward integrated systems that operate across the entire production lifecycle.
